I have also d/l the Linux installation tar.bz file from the Moxilla site, ... and expanded it.
"Expanded"? Please explain just what you did.
I unpacked it.
I still don't know just what you did. Did you run a command called "unpack"? FWIW, when after I download a bz2 file from mozilla.org I want to run the application it contains, I literally enter it with mc (as I would have done with FC/2 on OS/2), then F5 its content to my selected extraction location.
I suggest you try the instructions on http://en.opensuse.org/Firefox before continuing this thread.
Why not? All else has failed.
One click should get you both 3.6.3 and the correct repo configured so that you will be enabled for future updates for FF 3.6.x right along with regular 11.2 updates. You may need to set a higher priority (lower number) for that Mozilla repo via YaST2 (or direct editing the appropriate file in /etc/zypp/repos.d/) to ensure no backleveling might occur in the future. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
