Make sure that when I reply, I'm replying to the list and not an individual who posted to the list before. No HTML or no rich text, if I have a sig it has to be correctly formatted and without any religious overtones. My spelling and grammar have to be correct. I must also ensure that replies are <snipped> as much as possible as folks don't have the bandwidth to download messages bigger than 5KB! Can't post anything that's 'off topic' or a 'repost' and ensure that any comments about Microsoft are kept to digs and criticisms otherwise I accept that world war 3 will shortely commence!
Did I miss anything?
FYI, I've been on a few mailing list in the past, and they all pretty much expect what you just stated. For at least the top posting thing, my email client automagically puts the cursor at the bottom of any email I reply to - which is great for the lists, but annoying for replying to private email. I did notice one thing you didn't mention, and appears to be a somewhat personal preference of list members (???) is that people need to setup their email systems to not include anybodies email addy in the "On Wed, 3 May 2006 18:34:51 +0100 Matthew Stringer wrote:" area. I've just done that recently - and belated apologies to all list members for some replies to this list before I "fixed" that. Hope any of this was not taken as "rude" - it wasn't my intention! Steve
