Are there any suse kernels which do support centrino chipsets ?
If so, where can I find them ;)
not until Intel decides to open up-
That depends on what Gerhard actually is after. If he is after support
for the Pentium-M processor, the advice is to compile for a P-III. If he
is after the cpufreq things, then most -ac patches have that, and you
can also get it from www.arm.linux.org.uk via CVS. The wireless part of
Centrino you can more or less forget. Intel said in march they would
open up the source for the drivers, and I have been e-mailing Scott
McLaughlin at Intel about once or twice a month about it, and there is
still the same evasive answers. They simply don't quite know how to do
it I reckon.
As for what SuSE kernels that support Centrino, I don't know. I got
bored waiting for a SuSE kernel that would actually work on my X31
Thinkpad so I have been rolling my own kernels since about SLPro 8.2
came out. It was the only way to get things working and who cares about
the splash animation anyway.
I suppose that the latest 2.4.21 SuSE kernel (is that the -104 ?) should
at least work with IDE DMA, and if you are lucky, it has the cpufreq
stuff as well.
