Are you using dhcpcd or the ISC dhclient. When I installed 7.3, which defaulted to dhcpcd, it worked initially, then one day decided not to work. I had been using the ISC dhclient for several years with no problem with 6.4, so I uninstalled dhcpcd and installed dhclient, and have had NO problems since. I upgraded to 8.0 choosing to upgrade installed packages, which worked beautifully, so I am still using dhclient with NO problems.
