Many moons ago ya all helped me get xntpd up and running so the clock would sync with a stratum 2 time server. I searched the archive but didn't see anything that directly addressed my problem here.
Now, I want to take this one step further. I want this box (SuSE 6.4) to act as a time server for my internal network. Will xntpd act as a server? And if so, what do I need to add to the ntp.conf to get it to listen on the standard NTP port?
I scanned this box from another and the proper port is not open (IIRC, it should be port 123). When I tried to connect to it with an NTP client from another machine, it (the client) just times out.
Thanks! Chris Kulish
