Well I did the following
rmmod parport_probe rmmod parport_pc rmmod parport
insmod parport 0x378,7 insmod plip
and it installed
I then ran
ifconfig plip0 one pointopoint two up
route add two
Route shows it there, ifconfig shows the interlace, when I ping two I get no response When yast on two tries to mount the CD-ROM one it also times out
It seemed so easy when I set up PLIP on the 486 under 5.1, now this upgrade is starting to annoy me, and it's keeping me from inn and majordomo.

machine from 5.2 to 6.3. After dying several times it will no longer read the CD-ROM even thought the sbpcd modules are loaded.
I'm now trying to d o the install via plip and am having trouble setting up the parallel port
From dmesg I get the following:

Ok I tried with the 6.3 boot disk and the modules disk to install via plip interface to my laptop. Contrary to the 6.4 installation 6.3 asks for the plip parameters and the configuration which I enter as follows
io=0x378 irq=7 ifconfig plip0 192.168.217.3 pointopoint 192.168.217.2 netmask 255.255.255.255 up
but then when I want to do the installation via NFS it say no network modules loaded. Also when I ping the laptop from the desktop nope it does not exists.
Is there any other way I should try to install it (ie. with floopies maybe)

Hi Togan,
you should have created a modules floppy too and -

What am I missing? I now have 3 machines out of service.

Not necesarry since I have the original package
which already has the
two ploppies boot and modules
into the kernel (actually PLIP support and/or support for your interface card).
That is the problem point what ever I do nothing happens. I choose plip and I expect the plip config parameters box to appear but nothing happens.
But possibly you will fail. Yeap I do on the otherhand is there a way to over come
necessary module(s) this ?
thx
