It is not fixed.
The problem became less urgent with current openSUSE version that defaults to btrfs and is not the type of code that easily qualifies for backporting.
Devs spend too much time making stuff "better" and fixing others' "improvements", kicking sleeping dogs, than ensuring "improvements" aren't breaking stuff.
I'm looking forward to see your contribution. It will certainly make openSUSE the best distribution ever.
My contribution has primarily been and remains identifying and reporting reproducible problems so that fixers know what needs fixing, not fixing brokenness myself. That won't likely be changing, else I wouldn't have time left for the other prong, assisting those needing help using or installing it.
