After trying netscape in many flavors from 4.05 to 4.5 and many inbetween, I got to say that Im not terribly impressed. So I went back, back, back. Back to 3.04. Now 3.04 is stable and does not crash on java, mailto's, and does frames, etc. In fact, I used to suffer a crash on a mailto: daily and some urls would just crash the display leaving a large process running but no netscape. Now with 3.04, no crashes. I dont think the glibc version of netscape will be any different than the libc5 version. So Im content with 3.04. It works; and thats more than I can say for the 4 series of netscape products.
I'm using 4.5 on Slack with libc and I can't say as I have come across these same problems with mailto and sites with java, about the only time I have noticed it crashing is when I hit a particular site which uses push technology to open a second littler window and I hit back before its completely loaded. Other then that it runs great for me. -- Ec|ipse on EFnet - tomas@primenet.com - <A HREF="http://www.primenet.com/~tomas"><A HREF="http://www.primenet.com/~tomas</A">http://www.primenet.com/~tomas</A</A>> Ec|ipse@|Watcher| - botnet webpage down until further notice Slackware Linux v3.6+ - Kernels 2.0.35/2.2.1 - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
