# rpm -iv libmodman1-2.0.1-lp150.1.6.x86_64.rpm Preparing packages... package libmodman1-2.0.1-20.3.x86_64 (which is newer than libmodman1-2.0.1-lp150.1.6.x86_64) is already installed file /usr/lib64/libmodman.so.1.0.0 from install of libmodman1-2.0.1-lp150.1.6.x86_64 conflicts with file from package libmodman1-2.0.1-20.3.x86_64
rpm won't update an installed package by "installing" it. Instead, upgrade: # rpm -Uv libmodman1-2.0.1-lp150.1.6.x86_64.rpm 15.0 started a new versioning cycle, or something like that, with some packages, so some older packages to rpm look newer. With those, the --oldpackage option is also required with -U. If it still refuses, I rpm -e --nodeps the old package, # rpm -Uv --oldpackage libmodman1-2.0.1-lp150.1.6.x86_64.rpm zypper dup is smarter than rpm, so: # zypper -v in --oldpackage libmodman1-2.0.1-lp150.1.6.x86_64.rpm should work for new package as well as package upgrade. -- Evolution as taught in public schools is religion, not science.
