Örn and Martin, I want to thank you for the help you provided today. Between both your suggestions, I got the printer working with CUPS. http://users.netwit.net.au/~pursang/lex.html provided the final clue to what I was missing to get things working. It seems that the CUPS driver Lexmark provides requires V8.3 of the libtcl and libtk libraries. Invoking the following commands: ln -s /usr/lib/libtcl8.4.so /usr/lib/libtcl8.3.so ln -s /usr/lib/libtk8.4.so /usr/lib/libtk8.3.so And then installing the driver per the web page brought up the printer without any problems - graphics and all (Postscript Level/3). Doing some more investigating at SuSE.com yielded some reports that Lexmark is poorly supported across their InkJet printer line with only a few models (Z11,22,52,53, and severla others) compatible with SuSE. I am going to recommend that my friend look at another company such as HP in order to get better use from his printer. Again, thank you for your suggestions and help. Cheers, ...Paul
