I am trying to get SuSE 9.3 to join a ".local" domain. I know there's a "feature" in Suse that creates a local subnet and does all sorts of funky things with the network settings when the machine is a member of a ".local" domain, but I don't want that. How do I turn it off? Google has been of marginal help.
.local is reserved for zeroconf use. The "funky" stuff you refer to is multicast DNS, as specified by the zeroconf spec and various RFCs But if you deliberately want to set up a broken configuration despite knowing it is wrong, you can edit /etc/host.conf and add "mdns off" Anders -- Madness takes its toll -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
