In KDE3, when you clicked on the geeko to open the menu and pressed /, a box would open where you could start typing the app name. As you did that, the menu selection would narrow until you found the app you wanted, so that you could click on it. This is apparently in the Application Laucher style, but not Classic style menu.
Ok.......but isn't this now covered by the Search box at the top of the Kickoff Launcher?
Yes and no. Yes it is in that you can type the app name or related keywords and you will (hopefully) see the app you want. But... no in that it doesn't show you where in the KickOff "tree" the app is located. I used to use the old tree search a lot, but the redesign of Kicker to KickOff made that way of working essentially obsolete - you add your frequently used apps to the Favorites, and for the rarely used apps, a few letters in the search box brings up what you're looking for... it's a LOT faster (in my experience) than navigating the nested menus even when you know exactly where the app is located in the tree.
