Then, have the XFree package ready, so that you can properly install X. Also, maybe someone can find out why the root .xsession gets erased, adn KDM is limping without bbackground! (if you want an extreme fix to this, uninstall KDE, then reinstall).
Just being sarcastic. It is a good upgrade, just a little difficult on my system. Others have had no problems.

Crikey, the damn thing works, I've got glorious quake2 and UT ticks along very nicely thank you.
If anyone is stuck with an NVidia chipset and 3.3.6, take the plunge, go for 4.0.1, you get a -configure option with xf86config..
