When I started kde i noticed that it took a long time to load and there was a lot of activity on the hard drive and using df, I noticed the hard drive was getting loaded. Using find to check files less then 1 day old, I located the file /proc/kcore and it was over 33 meg. I tried to delete it as root but couldn't . I got a message "Operation not permitted"
-r-------- 1 root root 33558528 Nov 29 18:33 kcore
Why can't I delete it? Most core files can be deleted.
/proc is NOT a directory on your hard disk. It is a window into the running kernel (memory). -- Brad Shelton On Line Exchange http://online-isp.com -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
