Hi
I am using my openSUSE 12.3 x86_64 box with KDE to run some long simulations. The program is started in a terminal window and it runs smoothly, but I have noticed that after long period of time the KDE desktop crashes, however the terminal window is still in place and my simulation is unaffected. Also, KDE desktop seems to be able to restart, but the functionality is no longer the same, so the only way is to reboot the PC. Does anyone experienced something similar .
thanks
I see the same thing. Not running any long simulation, but I did have an ssh shell open on another machine watching ksysguard, while the KDE desktop just sat there idle, or If I leave it idle for some long period of time, when I return, it will be in a crashed state, the wall paper will still be showing, but the panel will be gone, right click will show the default context menu (run, activities, unlock widgets, etc) but none of them will work, and neither will any keyboard entries. If I switch to a console (ctrl-alt-f1) I can attempt to log in, it will take the username, and password but then times out waiting for login to happen. Even the SSH session becomes unresponsive after a while. So, reboot. Kde 4.10.00 Release 1, on OS 12.3 x86_64. I haven't had time to track this down, and therefore can't file any intelligent bug reports. My prior 11.4 install on the same machine would run for days on end un-attended. -- _____________________________________ ---This space for rent--- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
