Linux upgrades are bug fixes for the previous buggy OS, in case you are too blind to see that. No free upgrades from M$, what do you call each version of Explorer. Security holes? I have an inbox full of linux security updates just in the last month, M$ security holes are widely advertised and linux holes are overlooked by the media. One independent government study showed linux had more holes than Mac or Win2k.
In my 20 years as a IT specialist I have tested more different OSs and computer hardware configurations than your shallow mind could ever dream of. I enjoy a healthy different opinion that is how we learn. Your intolerance to someone else experience probably gets you nowhere in life.

Ah, nice to see a Microsoft Shill posting. Actually, there are free upgrades, you just need to put forth some effort to acquire them. Unlike Microsoft for which there are no free upgrades, the upgades are generally bug fixes of the previous buggy OS, and there are tremendous numbers of security holes which the user is paying good money to install on their computer.
Glad you like 2000, it crashes rather consistently on my system while SuSE linux does not. Faster? what the hell are you doing, running 2000 on a P 4 and running linux on a 486?
Get a life, most of the people on this list know the truth.

Just in the past year or year and half Suse and Mandrake had two releases each with no free upgrades. Suse quit providing ISOs for x86; with each turn of the corner linux companies decrease benefits and scam you for more money, this will continue to increase.
In the coming years linux marketing will be no different than the other evil empire. It won't be long and people will be angry at linux and be looking for alternatives.
Myself have found Windows 2000 a much better OS than any linux I've worked with, W2k always runs faster and has a well laid out GUI with polished features; KDE is clunky and slow with a 100x more bugs and hicups than you will ever find in Windows 2000.
I think Microsoft is excellent at developing a product if they concentrated there efforts on a version of linux they would blow the doors off all other linux companies.
A few of many things to ponder.
Ever seince SuSE version 7.1, SuSE has decided to become little money hungry > bastards and they no longer have the install ISO's on line, but they are available to paying > customers. BUT, belive me when I say this, SuSE would be more then happy to take down their > FTP server and all other mirrors. But they cant cuz Linus would have nothing to do with it. and the GPL will not allow it. Their says would be numbered if they pulled a stunt like that. So you can still get SuSE for free off the FTP server, BUT not in an install ISO form. You have have to download it package by package. And this is where they get really shitty about some things.

SuSE claim that they have removed the x86 ISO'S from their FTP because of development costs. And I understand that they need money to help support their cause. But I feel they dont need to take down their ISO's and shove shove shove to get people to go out and buy their software. And I do recall stating that SuSE does deserve to be supported and that I DO SUPPORT them WHEN and WHERE I CAN. I dont make alot of money and I'm sure there is alot of others out there that dont make alot of money either and feel the ame way about supporting SuSE. There are alot of Newbies out there that dont know the first thing about downloading a distrobution package by package and installing from a hard drive OR makeing ISO'S out of the packages and installing that way. And SuSE provides NO HELP on this subject. I have talked to LOTS of people on IRC that are interested in giving suse a go and dont want to fool around with live eval cds, if they wanted to do that they would go get Demo Linux. They want it on their hdd and test it on their actual system, BUT again they dont know how to go about getting the distro package by package, And AGAIN, SuSE has no help files or howto 's on this subject matter. Or they really dont feel like going through the BS of it. ALSO They dont want to go out and buy it because if they dont like it, they just wasted their money. So SuSE is in turn shooting its self in the foot. They are hurting them selfs more then helping them selfs. if everyone will please find my earlier message I have a HUGE list of this concerning this matter, If everyone will please find it and read it. This is a good topic to discuss, and it NEEDS to be explained and talked about but the SuSE employies. feed back, please one_inch
