Hi agin, and thanks for the reply. You arealways the only one that makes replies to my queries.
I know the setting up via yast.
Please tell me about your DOD also. Thanks !.
And do yoy also have a nameserver up to could have all your computers to use the computer having the DOD installed ??.
Or do you use a router instead ?.
THe Dial On Demand is enabled in YAST -> SYSTEM ADMINISTRSTION -> CHANGE CONFIGURATION FILE There is an entry for enable wvdial DOD I don't recal the exact wording but it's near the end of mine. In aswer to your question about DNS. I am not (at present) running a DNS server nor do I run the caching daemon either. I'm on a dial up 56K connection to a rather lame ISP. After I get a few things down then I plan on setting up bind. THe reason I turned off caching is I use a dynamic IP addy updater service called dyndns. The hostname: nordak.dyndns.org routes through to Harlette's addy. When cacheing is enabled it takes considerably longer for the records to get updated here. If you are not using such a service than caching may help you. The DOD works rather well for wvdial. The IP masq runs well too. I recently updated to kernel 2.4.4-GB (ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/update/7.1/kernel/2.4.4) and SuSE Firewall 2 ver 11 (if ya want that i don't recal the addy but it's on harlette in the /pub/linux/suse directory) These updates have improved the performance noticably. I'm getting an error when the firewall hits the stage 3 of init However I think an update for netfilter will probably resolve that one. THe likely reason that I'm the only one replying is that I'm probably the last person here running dial up. Did I mention my ISP sucks? I hope this helps you.
