Security through poor obscurity. You have only 16bits there. Easy to find. They scan entire 32bit internet already and the 16 bits is easy too. Even my little VM has attempts on high port.
If you want to have a quiet life for SSH admin only connections, limit to some IPv6 address unique for SSH. Then you don't have to worry about high ports. It will be quiet.
