My porblem is: I can't install KDE to my machine and I download all the files RPM but I don't know how can I install this kind of fills because it showed error when I install it and could you please tell me how can I solve it and this link you will see a picture of my linux and you can see the error. http://everybody.jeeran.com/weite.jpg where can I find my answer
from your screenshot it appears that you are perhaps already running a version of kde (probably 2.something if I remember). The error shown in your screenshot is telling you that the file you are trying to install (arts-1.0.0-2.i386.rpm) does not exist. Did you download this file when you downloaded the others? If not, then that will be your next step. If I recall yast will allow you to install a whole directory of files at one time but its been awhile since I used it, and I don't remember well enough todescribe how you would do it. Another way would be to use a wildcard. Place the files you want to install all into the same directory (as you appear to have done) cd /that/directory rpm -Uvh *i386.rpm before following my advice blindly please watch this list for a couple of days to see if anyone else finds errors with my instructions or can provide a better solution. It also appears that you may have been running your machine as root when you downloaded these files, I would suggest you set up a normal user account to work from most of the time and only become root when you need to (for installations, etc) good luck, hope this helps - -- dh Don't shop at GoogleGear.com! -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.1 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/elZCBwgxlylUsJARAs15AJwMGML8atGQuus9YX4kMiiPia9CvgCgjAvX cm0GxfeGMPzGKgjL85SlIX4= =c5rW -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
