Google is your friend: rsync is what you're looking for.
Alternately, if you're synching mainly text files, i would set up a CVS or SVN server on one of the machines and use that for synchronization.
The SVN idea is a great one, because it also allows for revision control, and for the possibility of rolling work back if something doesn't work out the way that it should... I've set it up for a couple of smaller offices that needed very, very cheap central/sync'able storage, and a way to track changes...worked like a charm.
