Subject: KDE 201 upgrade/install
I recently tried to install KDE 201 on to my computer which has Suse 7.
My lack of computer skills must be showing because I can not even get it
to start to install.
I went to the Suse ftp site and downloaded all the kde20 files into
/opt/kde201. The FAQ at the Suse site says to run the script
update_kde2.sh if installing all of the packages. I have all the
packages, but my computer does not have a file named update_kde2.sh and
the Suse site search also does not have the update script. What did I
miss?
Try method 2 to install. Since I have all the rpm packages on my
computer I tried to use Yast1. Loaded Yast, went to change the
installation media to a reachable directory. Yast asked from which
directory, I typed in /opt/KDE201 and Yast responded with an error
message "could not find source directory". ???? The directory is there
and the files are there. I tried to get Yast to see other directories
related to /opt and not related to /opt, always received the same error
message. How do I get Yast1 to recognize a reachable directory on my
computer?
Or, is there a less challenging way to install KDE201?
Suse 7.0
Yast1 1.07.1
