Gimp does a lot for retouching but I have yet to find a way to fix focus problems.
Can an out of focus photo be fixed with gimp?? You can try either Refocus or Iteractive Refocus. They are available in the gimp registry. I have tried to use refocus but it seems not to work for me. The Iteractive refocus works but it takes getting used to. YMMV. But these are the two that come to mind. Of course, you can try sharpen or unsharp mask if the picture is not too badly out of focus.
