When I set up open Suse v 11.10 as a Newbie I somehow got all the icons on the desktop I wanted except for Thunderbird, It is there at the top left in the sidebar(windows) and in the Applications box. But it won't let me drag it to the desktop to keep it there. Can anyone help? Thanks. Bob
Hi Bob; First, why are you using openSuSE 11.10? That is very far out of date. Current release is 12.1. Strongly recommend you update to that (or even 11.4). Second, which desktop are you using (KDE, Gnome, xfce, other)? This will probably affect any user response. Always supply as much information as possible and let us wade through it. I can only tell you about KDE. If you use another desktop, someone else will have to help you. You say the icon is at the top left in the sidebar. Would it be possible for you to take a screenshot (ksnapshot) and paste it to an image storing service (pastebin, imagebam, etc.) so we can see what you are talking about? KDE puts the taskbar (sidebar?) on the bottom of the screen and Gnome at the top. If KDE, have you opened the Start > Applications > Internet > E-Mail > Thunderbird? Try right clicking on Thunderbird there and select "Add to Desktop". Did that place the icon on the desktop and does it work? I'm sure Gnome has a similar procedure. If not reply with the above information and we will try to provide more help.
