I have an 11.2 system with a software raid disk set. The disks are ext3. I am curious what issues I might encounter if I updated the OS to 12.1 or 12.2. Specifically: - Would the disks be compatible? Seems a silly question. But I have been in situations where lack of compatibility was unexpected. - After mounting on 12.x, could I expect the disks to work if I reverted to 11.2? The disks are data-only. The OS is elsewhere. So the question is not about reverting the OS. It is really about mounting the disks on 11.2, 12.2, and back to 11.2. The info for the disks is below: # mdadm -D /dev/md0 /dev/md0: Version : 0.90 Creation Time : Fri Nov 25 18:06:04 2005 Raid Level : raid1 Array Size : 293025472 (279.45 GiB 300.06 GB) Used Dev Size : 293025472 (279.45 GiB 300.06 GB) Raid Devices : 2 Total Devices : 2 Preferred Minor : 0 Persistence : Superblock is persistent Update Time : Thu Aug 16 15:28:56 2012 State : clean Active Devices : 2 Working Devices : 2 Failed Devices : 0 Spare Devices : 0 UUID : d679bc98:c9dcd593:b738ad98:3a9a198a Events : 0.676332 Number Major Minor RaidDevice State 0 8 17 0 active sync /dev/sdb1 1 8 33 1 active sync /dev/sdc1 # mdadm --detail-platform -v -v /dev/md0 mdadm: checking metadata 0.90 mdadm: 0.90 metadata is platform independent mdadm: checking metadata 1.x mdadm: 1.x metadata is platform independent mdadm: checking metadata ddf mdadm: ddf metadata is platform independent mdadm: checking metadata imsm mdadm: found Intel SATA AHCI Controller mdadm: imsm option-rom not found Yours sincerely, Roger Oberholtzer OPQ Systems / Ramböll RST Office: Int +46 10-615 60 20 Mobile: Int +46 70-815 1696 roger.oberholtzer@ramboll.se ________________________________________ Ramböll Sverige AB Krukmakargatan 21 P.O.
