I'm sure somebody else has pointed this out by now, but THE SUSE 6.2 BOOT DISK DOESN'T WORK ON ATHLONS. You need the Athlon image from SuSE's FTP site to boot linuxrc on an Athlon. This is not a problem with 6.3.
Well.. I'm sorry to bug you again, but last week, I installed 6.2 (Six-dot-two) on an Athlon with absolutely no troubles at all. I'm not sure what mobo it was, but it DEFINATELY was (and still is) an AMD Athlon 650.
Maybe this is a rare exception, but simply saying the boot disk doesn't work -at all- on Athlons is not accurate.
I didn't say all, I said the Asus K7M. I just said the boot disk wouldn't work, and this has been confirmed by a number of people. After recompiling the kernel it works great.
Okay, this is stupid, but here is your text: "THE SUSE 6.2 BOOT DISK DOESN'T WORK ON ATHLONS." Seems pretty clear to me... It's like: Windows doesn't run on Apple Macintosh. Same thing. You always -mean- to say 'at all' but don't say it. You clearly said 'at all' in your text. But this really doesn't matter, use the Athlon bootdisk on Athlons. MAYBE the regular bootdisk work on some Athlons, but to be sure: use the Athlon bootdisk.
