Another issue that I have, since about a month, is that Thunderbird suddenly goes 100% CPU load and does not respond to mouse clicks or keyboard, till it finishes a few seconds later. Happens frequently, but perhaps less with the current version.
Do you ever manually compact folders? If not, that CPU load could be from compacting automatically in the background.
It is supposed to be automatic, and should happen when leaving the mailbox. In fact, till recently I had Th configured to ask, and it would ask when I went to see news folders (nntp). And if I said yes, as a result of compacting the imap folders, then the current nntp folder would be blank, empty. I had to click on a different folder and back to make it display. Now that I have set it no not ask, I notice when I do the same movement that sometimes the nntp folder goes blank, which means that it did a compaction of the imap folder. So no, it is not that event. What I describe happens, for instance, when I'm typing an email, that suddenly what I write doesn't appear on the screen. Th is unable to refresh. CPU load goes 100% - it just happened now since here.. ^ .... to ..............................^ here. It maybe that it is polling the news server, and it is not threaded; but it is worse since about a month or so. The nntp server is local. The crashes are another issue. Seems to have been only twice today. Still, as compared to 3 a month, it is too much. Using Leap 42.3 as per signature. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.3 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)
