You have to look at the output of "smartctl -a /dev/sdc".
Yes, but before doing that, backup the data, because that's a sure sign of death.
I am considering replacing the hdd with a Seagate SATA3 4TB. Will suse kernel 2.6.38 recognize > 2TB.
Yes. but that's a 2 year old kernel, an eternity in kernel development time (fixes and changes go in at a rate of around 7 per hour, 24/7/365)
Yes, ages/aged for a kernel but the box is from ~2005 and only used as a mail/web server. And I am afraid of bricking the box updating the kernel any more. Currently on openSUSE 11.2/Evergreen with a later kernel (pre Evergreen) than offered/supported. tks, -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
