I've been configuring the firewall through yast although I have also tried configuring the SuSEfirewall2 script directly and through yast. Nothing seems to make any difference.
When I first looked at this morning, I discovered that yast reported that all the ports were open on the firewall. Trying to remove the services failed, so I uninstalled the firewall and deleted the script. I've re-installed the firewall and now I can add and remove services successfully. However, I still can't get the dhcp server to work through the firewall. I've tried adjusting the log setting but that doesn't seem to respond I only get critical messages logged and that doesn't seem to include failed dhcp attempts.
Have I missed something? Can anyone give me some advice as to what to try next or anyone have a similar experience and knows the solution. Would be much grateful for any help.
Thanks

Eddie. Is this on 9.3? IF so then I am having the same or similar problem. I have DHCP set up on my router modem. It works fine on Xandros and Win$ software but it fails giving a message about firewall problems with 9.3 However, I have recently upgraded from 9.2 to 9.3 Perhaps I should have done a complete re-install instead... I had no ethernet problems with 9.2 but then I was running it through a switch straight to a Win 2k PC using Samba merely as the client.
I'm puzzled... -- Take care. Kevan Farmer
Yes, it is on 9.3 and it is good to know that I'm not the only one (Thanks for letting me know). Now if we could only get a solution. Anyone out there can help?
Eddie
Seems to be fixed with the latest security update.
Apologies for not trimming this post but felt that it was all necessary. I gave up with trying to set mine up after upgrading. I'm now completely re-installing 9.3 to see if things are detected from the onset. Of course the big problem being is that I have to have this network connection working to be able to get the upgrades....I'm now finally on broadband ADSL. If I am unable to get sorted I will give support a call. I've got 90 days after all :-))) -- Take care. Kevan Farmer 34 Hill Street Cheslyn Hay Staffordshire WS6 7HR
