what versions of the kernel and the X-server are you using ?
I have been trying to get it running on 2.4.2 & X4.0.2 without success. It looks like I may have to reinstall Suse using a 2.2 kernel and Xfree 3.x.
I'm running a self compiled 2.4.3 as put out by Linus, SuSE's X4.0.2 and the latest Vmware (2.0.3). The SuSE package just didn't work - the network module failed to install. I installed the package from the Vmware website, and except for the RTC problem it's fine.
Guess I will have to look into it further then. I have the standard 2.4.2 kernel, X4.0.2 and the latest vmware downloaded from their web-site. When I try to install the rpm file it crashed out with an exit status of 1, if I try a tar.gz version and run vmware-install.pl it complains about the kernel being different from the files in /usr/src/linux. It mentions something about a kernel 2.4.2-4GB, but I just installed the standard kernel when I installed 7.1.
I had to change kernel version adding -4GB, I think it was in version.h to make vmware-install.pl happy. Then it created vmware modules for the 2.4.2-4GB kernel. I know this is a quick hack, but I don't have any other solution at the moment. -Kastus
