I've had the same issues lately with 8.0 and the newest nVidia drivers. 4 of my co-workers machines just puke on these binary only drivers. I walked into work on Thursday when to startx and behold...*death*. X wouldn't start..I hadn't changed anything accept that I notices when I did apt-get upgrade I got a new xf86tools pkgs. I reverted to the older pkg and it still puked. At this point I've said screw nVidia both at home and at work. I went out and bought an ATI Radeon 7500 for work because it's preformed so well at home. Brought it back to work..and 10 minutes later..DRI+GLX worked at a res of 1600X1200..*sweet* :)
Interesting. I'm considering trying a Radeon 7500 now, because getting the nVidia drivers installed is a nightmare. How do you change the video card - just run SaX2? Kevin
