Yes, I miss level 2. It was useful for some maintenance jobs. I'm sure it would be easy enough to add it again to systemd, if some one wanted to do it; just a question of adding some target files and such (which are plain text files you can write).

What do you mean by that last line? Take a look at /usr/lib/systemd/system/runlevel2.target That's the 'isolate' unit that is invoked when you do 'init 2' That's the default. Modify as needed.
