Try this:
Go to YaST1 and try to install a package (pick one, you will cancel installation anyway) Then look at the output of YaST concerning "dependencies", it might just be that it tells you what's missing to run SO properly.
Did that a couple of times. Installed so-base, so-en, and java. There are no more dependencies there. Anyway, thanks for responding.
I **never** had problems making SO running... 6.1, 6.3, 6.4, 7.0 and 7.1
I never used it, but now have no other option. And it does not work. I am afraid it is some stale file in /tmp or /var, I wish I knew what. -Kastus
