Is it just a case of rpm -Uvh openoffice*.rpm ? Or are certain packages not required to be installed?
The "--test" option will warn you if a package has already been installed so you can move it. If you want to keep the .rpm as a backup, make a subdirectory "installed" and move it there. "--test" will also tell you if a dependency isn't being met or if a conflict exists with another or already installed package. Since "--test" doesn't actually implement any changes, it just does a trial run, it gives you the opportunity to fix problems in advance. - Carl
