Cant get samba to hide the dot files in a directory...
Tried the "hide dot files = yes" in both the global and directory sections. But it doesn't load. And i get no errors in the log testparm doesnt show the command either:
testparm doesn't show it because it is the default value. Use "testparm -v" to see all variables, including those set to default values
'hide dot files' won't hide the files, just give them the 'hidden' attribute. Do you perhaps have 'view hidden files' activated in windows? Look at the file properties in your windows browser and check if the attribute is set
*Slaps his forehead* Embarrasing! Thats it.. I have the "view hidden files" enabled.. Stupid of me. Thank you for setting me straight :) Is there a way of hiding the dotfiles all together? My users are a bit stupid, and keep wanting to enter those folders. And as they are linuxspecific (and most often system files) i dont want them tampered with. They keep viewing hidden files on their own workstations. so setting the view hidden wont work. I dont want them to be seen at all in listings. Is there a way to make that happen? -- /Rikard ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rikard Johnels email : rikjoh@norweb.se Web : http://www.rikjoh.com Mob : +46 735 05 51 01 ------------------------ Public PGP fingerprint ---------------------------- < 15 28 DF 78 67 98 B2 16 1F D3 FD C5 59 D4 B6 78 46 1C EE 56 >
