Hi,
I had the same problem with another application on CD-Rom.
I used 'mount /dev/hdx /cdrom' (there x is your CD-Rom "a"; "b"
or whatever) instead of the 'mount /cdrom'
and I could install the application from the CD-Rom.
Hope that helps.

Subject: [SLE] CDRom mounting
While I were reinstalling my notebook with 6.2, I realized that the type of
mount for CDRom is default to "Default", however, I have to change it to
ISO9660 to read the Staroffice CD from Sun.
The "Default" mount does not allow me to install StarOffice, it replied with
some access permission problem.
When is the different between this two? since both can read file from CD
without major problem except when came to installing application?
Also, I really like to automount feature in Corel Linux (sorry), is there a
way to make this happen in SuSE?
Thanks
Dennis/SG
