Hello I have been up all night trying to get SuSE to play nice with a server that I have been asked to setup. I spent most of the night correcting mistakes that the person who put this computer together made and playing with the bios. Then I finally got the kernel to boot... YES!!! After that I was looking forward to an nice relaxing SuSe install . But it wasn't to be :( I have SuSE pro 8.1 and got some instructions from the net on how to install SuSE on a system with the Promise 20276 onboard raid controller: http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/wessels_raid133.html All seemed to be going OK, But when I got to the stage where I needed to select the FastTrak module I was greeted with the following: "Failed to load module 'FastTrak!'" I switched to the virtual console 3 and saw the following: "using /modules/FastTrak.o /modules/FastTrak.o: kernel-module version mismatch /modules/FastTrak.o was compiled for kernel version 2.4.18-4GB while this kernel is version 2.4.19-4GB" Ok the file that I downloaded from the promise website: http://www.promise.com/support/download/download2_eng.asp?productId=15&category=All&os=100 was called "T-FTS-02-SUS80.zip" but I thought that it would be ok anyway. I suppose my question is what next. I was thinking of trying to force the loading of the module with the -f switch to lsmod but the module is initially loaded into memory (I think) and I don't know how to load a memory resident module. Anyone any suggestions. I think I should sleep but I won't until I have finished. tia. t.irvine
