I may just ignore it for now. I really can't change my drives around anymore. I can't put my Linux drive on one of the motherboard IDE controllers - when I tried that it was not recognized properly. I believe I put it in the first slot of the Ultra 66 card, and I am almost positive it is on there as a master. As long as it doesn't cause any real problems, I may just leave well enough along! :) Thanks, Mike --------------------------------------------------------------------- Cleary_Mike@emc.com x6033 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- It said 'Requires Windows 95 or better". I was using IDE33 but the problem was my disk arrangement. I happen to have 3 IDE drives and 2 of them are Ultra-ATA. If you re-arrange your drives (I am assuming you have more than 1) so that your Ultra-ATA drive is the master, then check for a jumper on your drive that might be there and say "Master, with non-UATA slave" - make sure you set that jumper and then you will most likely need to reload your OS, or dump it to the new master, whatever you prefer. Or just ignore it. This doesn't appear to matter much to anything but lilo This should fix your problem =o) -----Original Message----- From: Cleary, Mike [mailto:Cleary_Mike@emc.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 27, 2001 9:29 AM To: 'Robert Stragies' Cc: 'suse-linux-e@suse.com' Subject: RE: [SLE] ultra dma 66 contollers I'm using a Promise Ultra 66 PCI card for my Linux drive. It seems to work fine - Linux recognizes the drive no prob. However, I do get some funky lilo messages, but I'm not sure if they are related to the promise card or not. I was opting for a promise fasttrack 66, but i read in the udma howto on linuxhq.com, that it was problematic to install with *recent* 2.2 kernels. As this document may be outdated, could somebody tell me (or point me to info) if this problematic situation is still the case? any other recommendations or tips? best regards, Alex -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
