Dear Dave... OK prefer to use Grub as the primary loader (boot manager). I can start the SuSE and Windows XP (I use XP) properly but the problem is : I can not start my Mandrake because no menu for mandrake written on grub configuration file. So I want to ask, do you know how the configuration file of GRUB should be? I got 2 HD, first HD have Windows XP (first partition) and Mandrake Linux (the rest space of HD on different partition). I put the SuSE on the second HD. Please tell me.... TIC So much. --- Dave Howorth <dhoworth@mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk> wrote:

I want that I can start each of the OS-es from LiLo (I love comfortable life) easily. But I am confious how the lilo config file should be.
You don't say what version of Windows you have. If it's NT/2000/XP then you need to use the Windows loader as the primary loader. You can use it to load lilo as a secondary loader, see
http://www.littlewhitedog.com/reviews_other_00011.asp
for one howto.
But I would recommend using GRUB as the secondary loader, because it's easier to change the config later. You'll just edit a text file called menu.lst in Mandrake's /boot/grub directory, whereas with lilo you have to edit the config, rerun lilo and then copy the bootblock onto the windows partition every time, which is a real pain. For a howto, see:
http://www.geocities.com/epark/linux/grub-w2k-HOWTO.html
Either lilo or grub can be configured to load many choices of Linux.
Cheers, Dave
