First harddisk has Windows and Mandrake linux and the second HD has SuSE Linux. I want that I can start each of the OS-es from LiLo (I love comfortable life) easily. But I am confious how the lilo config file should be. Please tell my.... Thank you very much in advance. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! You don't say what version of Windows you have. If it's NT/2000/XP then you need to use the Windows loader as the primary loader. You can use it to load lilo as a secondary loader, see http://www.littlewhitedog.com/reviews_other_00011.asp for one howto. But I would recommend using GRUB as the secondary loader, because it's easier to change the config later. You'll just edit a text file called menu.lst in Mandrake's /boot/grub directory, whereas with lilo you have to edit the config, rerun lilo and then copy the bootblock onto the windows partition every time, which is a real pain. For a howto, see: http://www.geocities.com/epark/linux/grub-w2k-HOWTO.html Either lilo or grub can be configured to load many choices of Linux. Cheers, Dave

Not necessarily true. I have a dual boot WinXp and Linux system and I am using grub as the bootloader. I guess in certain situations you will need to allow Windows to use it's bootloader. I boot my Xp through grub with no problems. Again I guess it depends on the situation. -- Marshall "Nothing is impossible, we just do not have all the anwsers to make the impossible, possible."

I've got XP & SuSE 8.2 booting from LILO, which calls the XP loader when "Windows" is chosen from the LILO menu. -rex
Dear Dave... OK prefer to use Grub as the primary loader (boot manager). I can start the SuSE and Windows XP (I use XP) properly but the problem is : I can not start my Mandrake because no menu for mandrake written on grub configuration file. So I want to ask, do you know how the configuration file of GRUB should be? I got 2 HD, first HD have Windows XP (first partition) and Mandrake Linux (the rest space of HD on different partition). I put the SuSE on the second HD. Please tell me.... TIC So much. --- Dave Howorth <dhoworth@mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk> wrote:

Yes... I've known that before.... But on YaST2 there is somewhat like Autowizard as a guide to config the menu. OK I tried this but it doesn't work : # Modified by YaST2. Try typing info grub at the command line and read that. It should explain it all.
