Ok let me restate: netvru is Linux box, trying to rsh to netivp1, which is AIX box. I listed .rhosts from netvru/Linux box. does the remote .rhosts need to have the same entries in it? (Or is there a FAQ/HOWTO somewhere that I should be reading?) I am cofused. It looks like you are logging on to netvru and trying to rsh to netivrp1. You listed the .rhosts file from netvru, is it the same on netivrp1?

Hi, all. I'm trying to use rsh to execute commands on a remote
but
keep getting :
rshd: 0826-813 Permission is denied.
What should I be checking to see WHY I'm getting this? Or is it something that I should be looking at the AIX box for a resolution?
dtuser@netvru:~ > grep rsh /etc/inetd.conf # man-page of rlogind and rshd to see more configuration
AIX `> box, possibilities
about shell stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd in.rshd -L # shell stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd in.rshd -aL

Help, please!
Alternatively, does anyone know how I can use ucd-snmp to access mibs in the AIX box? (specifically, I'm trying to check the MIB of the "dtsnmpd" on teh AIX box. The command that I'm using on the AIX box is:
netivrp1:/usr/local/bin>snmpinfo -m dump -v vpackStatus
which feeds back: vpackStatus.1 = 5 vpackStatus.2 = 5 vpackStatus.3 = 5 vpackStatus.4 = 5 vpackStatus.5 = 5 vpackStatus.6 = 5 vpackStatus.7 = 3 vpackStatus.8 = 1
(for example)
Any help/suggestions GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks, Geordon
