Subject: [SLE] K3b 0.11.9 won't burn CD's in with
Kernel 2.6.4 on SuSE 9
Although I'm using the 2.4-athlon kernel on SuSE 9.0, I am using K3b-0.11.9
successfully.
Hello all. I keep getting and error from K3b that it
CDrecord does not have
permission to open up my cd recorder device. I have checked
the permissions
on the device file and I do have access under my user
account. I know that
when I complied 2.6.4 into my SuSE 9 distribution, I
disabled scsi emulation.
I was told that it was not needed to burn cd's anymore.
I think ide-scsi is still required with the current versions of cdrdao &
cdrecord
At least, I had to enable ide-scsi for my input device in order to get K3b
to recognise these programs
I also think that I
had burning working at one point without emulation enabled,
but have since
formatted my computer and don't remember for sure. Can
someone tell me if
this is possible and what do I have to do to get CD burning
to work?
After enabling ide-scsi I checked/corrected my /dev/cdr* symbolic links and
then ran k3bsetup2 to correct permissions (I use a "burning" group)
Thanks
-Gregory Olds
I hope that helps
