I started "gnome-screensaver" in a "gnome-terminal" ... ... I *would* like to have the random screensavers working, though, but I think they're just not installed... maybe the artwork selection isn't final?
I reinstalled and choose "minimal install with x". Then I started YaST and choose the following selections: KDE Desktop Environment, All of KDE, GNOME System, Office Apps, Multimedia, VoIP, C/C++, Experienced user Now I have a preview in gnome-control-center and...it works. I think if you only install "GNOME System" the screensaver modules are missing.
In fact, with 9.3, I was only able to get a stable Gnome desktop
I had no problems with 9.3. I did full install, performed the online update, patched gnome-session not to start susewatcher and suseplugger and it works stable.
... particularly since it seems to be fixed in RC1 at this end.
the "no screensaver modules installed" problem happens to RC1. -- mdc
