Hello!
I've tried to install openSUSE 12.3. Computer has Davicom Semiconductor ethernet controller installed. Usually I use ISO for Net installation. During installation openSUSE uses Internet, but after installation there is no ethernet connection (no eth0). I have found out that to enable ethernet connection I have to type modprobe dmfe. Do you know how to enable dmfe module by default?
Ah, RTFM/Google I usually recommend using 'apropos' to find out what manual pages are relevant. Try 'apropos modprobe' "The Answer is out there ..." To be honest, I would have expected the installer to have probed the hardware and automatically configured the drivers if they could be found. I've installed from the DVD on some odd hardware -- mobos and boards -- and its always done that. Its also presented a summary before committing & proceeding to install the kernel & packages to disk so that I can alter such things.
