Hi, I tired to configure HylaFax by running Faxsetup from root login - but what i get is an message that "egetty" is not installed but at the same time it informs that this is not a serious problem either link the program if residing elsewhere to /sbin/egetty - however I couldn't find where egetty is installed. Any tips on getting "FaxSetup" to work will be most useful. TIA, - Maneesh Charles Philip Chan wrote:

This is something I've been trying to figure out but cant. I want to be able to fax from my desktop and I know the software is there but not sure how to set it up.
In order to use Halafax to fax from SuSE Linux you will need to: (1) have Halafax configured and running, (2) have the Java based SuSE fax client (package: susefax) running while you are printing to the fax queue. My preferred solution is, if you have the Gnome libraries installed, to use gfax. Gfax is a frontend to several fax packages including Hylafax. It replaces the lpr command with a script that passes print jobs to the regular lpr and faxes to the appropriate backend. Of course it will also popup a fax dialog box for you to enter in the fax info, etc.
