I have SuSE 13.2 and try to install Brother DCP-7040 as a scanner (before I had installed it as a printer, with some difficulties, but eventually with success).
Now, since YaST Scanner does not support my Brother DCP-7040, I downloaded two rpm's from http://support.brother.com/:
- brscan3-0.2.13-1.i386.rpm (for 32 bit) and - brscan3-0.2.13-1.x86_64.rpm (for 64 bit).
To set up Brother DCP 7065 DN I downloaded from their site brother-udev-rule-type1-1.0.0-1.noarch.rpm brscan-skey-0.2.4-1.x86_64.rpm brscan4-0.4.2-1.x86_64.rpm cupswrapperDCP7065DN-2.0.4-2.i386.rpm dcp7065dnlpr-2.1.0-1.i386.rpm and then I went to http://localhost:631/ (CUPS settings) to correct the settings (the printer is shared over network, I had to manually set IP address). Nothing more was needed.
Now, I have two questions: Is /usr/bin/scanimage the correct program to be invoked for scanning? And if so, how can I create the missing SANE devices?
I usually scan in GIMP. It works perfectly. -- Vojtěch Zeisek Komunita openSUSE GNU/Linuxu Community of the openSUSE GNU/Linux https://www.opensuse.org/ https://trapa.cz/
