Telling people to RTFM or search on Google is not terribly helpful.
On a high volume list like suse-linux-e this is the most sensible way to act, specially if the topic has often been discussed on the list.
For either of these methods to be useful, you have to know what it is you're looking for in the first place.
I usually give hints as to which (key)words might be helpful in searching.
That may have been above and beyond, but it made this list a happy place to be.
For you maybe but not for everybody else.
I'm all for the "Teach a man to fish" philosophy, but sometimes, you just need a quick fix for something so you can move on and get past it.
If the answer is short, I'll give it again and again, but if the subject is more involved, I *will* point to other sources of information. If the person has made himself knowledgeable and *then* has questions regarding specific points, most people here on the list will gladly try to answer them. Philipp
