Looks like I can't get into the list site, but I can subscribe to it. By the way, I loaded SuSE 8.0 on my laptop, and all my hardware is working - the modem doesn't sound but it connects fine, and 3D support is missing. My question is: How can I avoid frying my CPU?
I recently received a Sony Vaio FXA36 as a gift, and it now has SuSE 8.0 on it. It works fine, and I haven't (yet) fried the CPU. I am not running ACPI (yet) but I am running APMD. Still, battery life is abysmal 45 minutes!! I have one battery (and at $250 each, I'm not likely to purchase another battery for a measly additional 45 minutes). I'm starting to check into ACPI and I'll be following this thread closely. Later, Andy -- Andy Stewart, Founder Worcester Linux Users' Group Worcester, MA USA http://www.wlug.org
