From time to time I notice Thunderbird warnings of this kind:
Script: resource://gre/modules/XPCOMUtils.jsm:331
Wonder what is producing that and why.
Beside this warning, I noticed system freezes using Thunderbird whenever I launch email folder compacting.
Thanks for your attention.
Cheers,
Hi Marco,
I can see from your headers that you're running an x86_64 Linux and Thunderbird 11.0, but you should always provide the version number of openSUSE your question applies to, and, in this case it helps to know where your version of Thunderbird came from. Is it one prepared by openSUSE specifically for the distribution that you're running? If not, where did the Thunderbird package come from and how did you install it?
With that out of the way, some quick Googling of your error message components seems to indicate the problem is related to this script:
XPCOMUtils.jsm https://developer.mozilla.org/en/JavaScript_code_modules/XPCOMUtils.jsm
If you're running a 'vanilla' package from mozilla.org and /not/ running one obtained from the openSUSE community, your question is probably out of the scope of this list ... other than for me to offer the standard recommendation that, whenever possible, you install openSUSE specific packages.
regards,
Carl
Hi Carl and thank you for your comments.
I let to indicate details of my openSUSE vesrion, since they appear in my sig.
About Thunderbird version, I am currently using this one:
Informazioni per pacchetto MozillaThunderbird:
Repository: Updates for openSUSE 12.1 12.1-1.4 Nome: MozillaThunderbird Versione: 11.0-33.14.1 Arch: x86_64 Fornitore: openSUSE Installato: Sì Stato: aggiornato Dimensione installata: 42,7 MiB Sommario: The Stand-Alone Mozilla Mail Component
Cheers,
Ah, yes, I now see your signature after scrolling down! ;-)
First, you wrote "from time to time" ... does this mean at random, whenever the program decides to misbehave, or are there always actions that you are taking (in addition to compacting folders,) which appear to trigger this?
It seems to be a generic 'get resource' error that is occurring in XPCOMUtils.jsm on line 331
Is the file listed when you run 'rpm -ql MozillaThunderbird | grep XPCOMUtils' ?
If so, can you 'cat' or 'less' or 'vi' (or otherwise read-only open) the file to see if anything helpful appears at, or near, line 331?
Hi Carl, The XPCOM is not listed if I issue the repm -ql command. I said "time to time" because freezing and warnings are happening randomly. I am able to reproducing a system freeze/slowness if I deliberately execute a "compact folder" on my IMAP account. I will try to do your last recommendation by opening XPCOMUtils.jsm on line 331 (wonder where this //gre/modules/ folder is located inside file-system?)
