can't get 100mb eth0 to work

I have a problem with my home network. It is working quite well with a Realtek 8029card/hub combo, but I only get 10mb. The other boxes on the network have 100 mb ethernet, but to get them to work, I have to force 10 mb, or nothing works. I've tried a Realtek 8039, a 3Com, the Via-rhine integrated in my motherboard, and a Myson Surecom EP-320x-s, they are all recognized and installed in SuSE 8.1, I can ping the server, but no other computer on the network.
