I agree here, you are better off switching to GoogleTalk to place VOIP calls.
Except, according to: https://www.google.com/support/voice/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=115061&topic=1707989 Google Voice (the VoIP option) is only available in the USA. With GTalk, you can only call PC-to-PC to someone who is also using GTalk...
